FAO data sources
AQUASTAT
AQUASTAT is FAO's global water information system. It describes the state of water resources and agricultural water use in each country. Special attention is given to the water resource, irrigation, and drainage sub-sectors.
Country Office Information Network (COIN)
COIN is a software program which enables the electronic management of a wide range of information about FAO Decentralized Offices which, can be accessed by a large community of users worldwide through the Internet. The information in the FAO Office box is generated by COIN.
Family Farming Knowledge Platform
The Family Farming Knowledge Platform gathers digitized quality information on family farming from all over the world; including national laws and regulations, public policies, best practices, relevant data and statistics, researches, articles and publications.
FAO Document Repository
The FAO Document Repository houses FAO documents and publications, as well as selected non-FAO publications, in electronic format. It enables users to easily access the accumulated knowledge and information produced by FAO directly on the Internet.
FAO in Emergencies
FAO in Emergencies provides access to the FAO’s preparations and responses to food and agricultural threats and emergencies around the world.
FAO Projects in the country
From the Field Programme Management Information System (FPMIS). The content is coordinated by the Office of Strategic Planning of FAO.
FAOSTAT
FAOSTAT provides time-series and cross sectional data relating to food and agriculture for some 200 countries.
FAOLEX
FAOLEX is a comprehensive and up-to-date legislative and policy database, one of the world's largest electronic collection of national laws, regulations and policies on food, agriculture and natural resources management.
FAO Terminology - Names of Countries
In order to standardize and harmonize the vast quantity of terms used in FAO documents and publications, the Organization developed the terminology database FAOTERM. The Corporate NAMES OF COUNTRIES database also aims at facilitating the consultation and harmonization of country names throughout the Organization. Downloading options are available to enable the creation of customized country lists and databases.
Fishery and Aquaculture Country Profiles
FAO's Fisheries and Aquaculture Department prepares and publishes Fishery and aquaculture Country Profiles (FACP). Each FACP summarizes the Department's assessment of activities and trends in fisheries and aquaculture for the country concerned.
Food and Agriculture Policy Decision Analysis Tool (FAPDA)
FAPDA programme promotes evidence-based decision making by collecting and disseminating information on policy decisions through a freely accessible web-based tool. The FAPDA tool gathers policy decisions collected since 2008 from more than 80 countries.
Food-based dietary guidelines
Dietary guidelines are intended to establish a basis for public food and nutrition, health and agricultural policies and nutrition education programmes to foster healthy eating habits and lifestyles. They provide advice on foods, food groups and dietary patterns. Worldwide more than 100 countries have developed or are currently developing food-based dietary guidelines.
GIEWS country briefs
The Country Briefs provide up-to-date information on the food security situation of developing countries.
Global Forest Resources Assessments
FAO has been monitoring the world's forests at 5 to 10 year intervals since 1946. The Global Forest Resources Assessments (FRA) are now produced every five years in an attempt to provide a consistent approach to describing the world's forests and how they are changing. The Assessment is based on two primary sources of data: Country Reports prepared by National Correspondents and remote sensing that is conducted by FAO together with national focal points and regional partners.
Livestock Sector Briefs
The purpose of the Livestock Sector Briefs is to provide a concise overview of livestock production in the selected countries through tables, maps and graphs.
The Right to Food around the Globe
This database provides a platform where what is constitutionally committed to on the right to adequate food at the national level can be found.
