ABSTRACT

This document is the final report of the second Technical Consultation on the Development and Management of the Fisheries of Lake Kariba. The major topics discussed were an overview on the importance of co-management as a tool for sustainable fisheries management and development in Zambia and Zimbabwe; fishers’ views on the importance of the kapenta fishery and the artisanal fishery; status of fisheries on the Zambia and Zimbabwe side of Lake Kariba; and an overview on the management and development of the fisheries of Lake Kariba. The summary of the main recommendations and decisions is shown in Appendix D.
