ABSTRACT With a per capita income in 2003 of USD950, Guyana is one of the poorest countries in the Caribbean and the Western Hemisphere. This FAO Investment Centre report is the result of a desk study and mission to Guyana carried out in 2004. Its purpose was to update the knowledge by the World Bank on recent developments in the rural sector of Guyana and serve as a basis for future dialogue between the Government and the World Bank aimed at identifying promising opportunities for stimulating and diversifying rural growth. |
