Abstract

This document presents the final report of the seventy-second session of the Executive Committee of the Asia-Pacific Fishery Commission convened in Seoul, Republic of Korea from 23 to 25 September 2009. Major topics discussed were: ways to improve APFIC's effectiveness for member countries; issues of significance to the region that have emerged in regional and international fora over the past biennium; outcomes of the workshops on i) practical implementation of the ecosystem approach to fisheries and aquaculture in the region and ii) improving the resilience and reducing the vulnerability of livelihoods in small-scale fisheries; and preparations for the third regional consultative forum meeting and the thirty-first session of APFIC to be held in September 2010. A summary of the main recommendations and decisions are included in the session report.
