THIS IS A REPORT ABOUT THE SECOND CONSULTANCY OF DR. ELEX WOYNAROVICH TO THE GOVERNEMENT OF MADAGASCAR THROUGH THE FAO/UNDP PROJECT ON INLAND FISHERIES AND AQUACULTURE DEVELOPMENT (MAG/76/002).

TIME OF THE CONSULTANCY

The consultancy started at 4 October 1979 and ended at 28 February 1980.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

The consultant accomplished the following works during his consultancy time :

  1. Trained local personnel in the most advanced technology of propagation of common carp.

  2. Made field experiments and observations concerning the extension of the propagation time of common carp.

  3. Investigated the possibility of second time spawning of common carp in Andasibe (Analamazaotra) Experimental Fish Station.

  4. Practical experiment was made concerning the transport of common carp eggs during their embryo development stage.

  5. Investigated the fish culture activity in Andasibe Experimental Fish Station and proposes here a new type of management.

  6. Prepared a General Lay-Out of a commercial fish farm in Madagascar, which if will be constructed, will give a great impetus to the further fish culture development.

  7. Investigated the fishery biological situation of the lake Itasy and lake Alaotra.
