Virtual Launch: Methods & Guidance Documentation 3 (MGD3.0)
The Global Forest Observations Initiative (GFOI) is pleased to announce that the third edition of the Methods and Guidance Documentation (MGD3.0) will be launched at 2pm (CEST) on Tuesday 25 August 2020. Registration is essential, please do so here.
You can now watch the recording here.
The MGD has become a vital resource for developing countries seeking to establish national forest monitoring systems (NFMS) and associated emissions measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) procedures for REDD+. The MGD, and its online platform REDDcompass, provide user-friendly guidance for addressing UNFCCC decisions through the practical implementation of IPCC good-practice guidance. The MGD has been developed and rigorously reviewed by the international community of experts and national-level practitioners.
MGD3.0 includes extensive updates to address the IPCC's 2019 Refinement to the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories and relevant UNFCCC decisions since the second edition was released in 2016.
During the launch, authors will provide an overview of key updates to the MGD which include strengthening guidance on institutional arrangements, design decisions, the processing of ground and remotely sensed data, reporting and verification. The draft agenda is featured below.
To join the event and stay up to date on MGD3.0, please register as soon as practically possible. Details for joining the launch will only be shared with registered participants.
The MGD launch is happening as part of the #GFOI2020 webinar series, which is keeping the GFOI community connected and engaged during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We look forward to seeing you (virtually) on 25 August! For more information, please contact [email protected].
