The climate is changing: where will the people of Bolzano go to ski in the future?

How will winter recreational use of the mountains around Bolzano change in the coming years? And what will be the new opportunities resulting from the potential restoration of mountain ecosystems?

The CEDOCS Social Cooperative and the South Tyrolean team of EURAC Research, which follows the Alpine Space project "BeyondSnow", are pleased to host a discussion on these topics in Bolzano at the Eurac Research headquarters in Ponte Druso on Monday 12 December 2023 at 17.30.

We will take inspiration from an in-depth analysis of the themes contained in the book "Inverno Liquido", DeriveApprodi editions, in a comparison between the author Michele Nardelli and the Eurac Research researcher Andrea Omizzolo.

The presentation of the book will open the door to a collegial discussion with representatives of some important local associations on the possible future scenarios of mass skiing activities at medium-low altitude for the people of Bolzano and on the opportunities that could materialize from the restoration of ecosystems following the partial or total closure of less sustainable plants.

The debate will be moderated by Andrea Omizzolo, coordinator of the "BeyondSnow" project.

The meeting is organized as part of International Mountain Day 2023 led by FAO. The theme this year aims to increase the restoration and prevent further degradation of mountain ecosystems, also considering climate change.
