Right to food

The right to food is a universal human right. Everyone has the right to be free from hunger and to have an adequate standard of living, including food. Recognizing the right to food upholds the dignity of every person and ensures they can live free from discrimination. It is an entitlement, something we have the right to demand. Governments and organizations have ethical and legal responsibilities to respect, protect, and fulfill this right. Continuous efforts by state and non-state actors are crucial for the full realization of the right to adequate food.
