FAO Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean

What and why

FAO Regional Conferences are an official forum where Ministers of Agriculture and high-level officials of Member Nations from the same geographic Region meet to discuss challenges and priority matters related to food and agriculture to ensure promotion of regional coherence on global policies and political issues.

As the highest Governing Bodies of the Organization at regional level, Regional Conferences are essential in ensuring the effectiveness of FAO's regional work in the service of Member Nations, as well as the definition of its priority areas of work for the following biennium.

Who

Ministers of Agriculture from the Regions actively participate in the Regional Conferences. Representatives of regional, intra-regional, international organizations, civil society and the private sector are also welcome as Observers to the Sessions of the Regional Conferences.

When

Regional Conferences are convened on a biennial basis.
