VI. PREPARATIONS FOR THE THIRTEENTH SESSION OF THE CONFERENCE

PROVISIONAL CONFERENCE AGENDA AND PLANS FOR THE THIRTEENTH SESSION OF THE CONFERENCE

222. The Council drew up proposals for the organization of the Thirteenth Session of the Conference and prepared the provisional Agenda of the Session, and requested the Director-General to circulate them (C 65/1 and C 65/2).

APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP IN FAO

223. The Council was informed that since its Forty-Third Session, The Gambia, Malawi and Zambia had submitted applications for admission to membership in the Organization. The Director-General had notified all Member Nations of these applications.

224. In the light of paragraph 5, Section I (b) of the Statement of Principles relating to the granting of Observer Status to Nations, 1 the Council authorized the Director-General to invite these applicants for membership to participate in an observer capacity in such of the Organization's technical conferences, sessions, seminars and training centers, in which they have a technical interest.

NOMINATIONS FOR INDEPENDENT CHAIRMAN OF THE COUNCIL

225. In accordance with Rule XXIII-1 (a) of the General Rules by which the Council determines the closing date for such nominations, which must be submitted by a Member Nation and addressed to the Secretary-General of the Conference, the Council established the deadline at 18.00 hours on 31 August 1965 for nominations to this office. All valid nominations received will be communicated by letter to Member Nations.

VII. OTHER MATTERS

DATE AND PLACE OF THE FORTY-FIFTH SESSION OF THE COUNCIL

226. The Council decided to convene its Forty-Fifth Session at FAO Headquarters in Rome on 15 November 1965 at 14.30 hours.
