There is urgent need to implement the project. It is recommended that:
The project personnel be recruited as soon as possible and trained on the various field and laboratory methodologies.
The equipment needed be purchased soonest. These will be utilized in the training of the project personnel.
Field assessment/evaluation of more sites be made and study areas for the different activities should be selected.
The project utilize laboratory facilities for seaweed taxonomy and natural product chemistry at the Marine Science Institute. All that is needed is to augment these facilities to accommodate the increase in the workload brought about by the project. In addition, a rich algal library (SICEN) is available.
A local counterpart in seaweed processing be identified.
Reevaluation of the foreign consultancy to really fit the requirements of the project.
