The mono culture of the African catfish with stocking density of 10 fingerlings/m2 started this year in Kibos and Alupe. The experiments were only started two month ago and no production data are available. Observation of the catfish during feeding indicated that the trial at Kibos are following the expected pattern. At Alupe however it seemed that high mortality occurred at an early stage of the trial. Specific details/recommendations on poly culture and mono culture of the African catfish are given in the next chapter.
