Technical level training in forestry and conservation is provided by the Lesotho Agricultural College. There is no university level training for forestry in the country, nor would it be justified due to the limited demand for graduates. Even diploma-level graduates have had considerable problems in finding suitable employment. The development of in-service training is weak.
Forestry research capacity is limited in the country. Some research related to woodlot establishment (provenance trials, agroforestry, soil conservation) has been carried out with the support of the United Kingdom.
