CHAIRMAN: Distinguished delegates, this 10th Plenary meeting is now called to order. Before we proceed with statments by heads of delegations, I wish to give the floor to the delegate from the Cook Islands who wishes to make a short statement to Conference.

Inatio AKARURA (Cook Islands): Many of the delegates attending this Conference travelled to the Vatican yesterday for an audience with the Holy Father. They heard the Pope address them on important matters, and I would like to request that his address be circulated as an official document of this Conference. Thank you.

CHAIRMAN: Delegates have heard the suggestion of the distinguished delegate of the Cook Islands. Are there any comments?

José Vicente SANCHEZ SOSA (Colombia): Buenos días. Sólo para respaldar la propuesta del señor Delegado de las Islas Cook.

Steven NJINYAM (Cameroon): Thank you very much Mr Chairman. Following on what the delegate of the Cook Islands has just said, we understand that during the visit yesterday, the Pope unfortunately had a fall in front of all the delegates who went to see him. The Cameroon delegation is requesting that the Conference send him a message of quick recovery from that occasion, and regret what took place.

Vincent AGNIMEL (Côte d'Ivoire): Thank you Chairman. The delegation of Côte d'Ivoire supports the suggestion of the delegations of Cook Islands and Cameroon.

CHAIRMAN: Thank you delegate of Côte d'Ivoire. Is there general agreement to this suggestion raised by the delegate of the Cook Islands and further extended by the delegate of Cameroon? If there are no objections I take the suggestion as agreed.

We will now commence with the statements by heads of delegation in this Plenary, and the first delegation to be heard this morning will be that of Cameroon. I invite the distinguished delegate of Cameroon to take the floor.
