   BURKINA FASO

An FAO/CILSS Crop Assessment Mission, which visited the country recently, estimated 2003 aggregate cereal production at some 3.6 million tonnes, an increase of 15 percent compared with the record crop harvested in 2002. Cereal import requirement in 2003/04 (November/October), mostly rice and wheat, is forecast at 223 000 tonnes. Over 450 000 tonnes of cereal are available for export and possible stock build-up in the country.
