  CÔTE D'IVOIRE

Cereal production is expected to fall for the second consecutive year, due to insufficient rains during the major growing season, and mass population displacements and seeds shortages resulting from the civil war. Importation of about 1.40 million tonnes of cereals will be necessary to meet the country's needs during the 2003 marketing year.
