The total cereal import requirement in 2003/04 (August/July) is estimated at 310 000 tonnes. Commercial imports are estimated at 230 000 tonnes, leaving a food aid requirement of 80 000 tonnes. As of end March food aid pledges amounted to 22 000 tonnes, of which 18 000 tonnes have been delivered.
