Latest official estimates of the main maize crop in 2004 have been revised slightly upwards to 8.14 million tonnes, and those of sorghum slightly upwardsto271 000tonnes. In aggregate, the coarse grain crop is below average, 16 percent lower than in 2002. However, export availability is reduced to about 1.2 million tonnes.
