��MAURITANIA

Aggregate 2004 cereal output has been estimated at some 101�192 tonnes, about 44 percent below last year and 36 percent below the previous five years average. Total imports of cereal in the marketing year ending in October 2005 are forecast to be around 377 000 tonnes, including re-exports of wheat. Taking into account an anticipated commercial cereal import of 281�600 tonnes and 31�100 tonnes of food aid pledges, the total uncovered deficit for the year is about 64�300 tonnes.
