CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC

Cereal production in 2004 has been estimated at some 203 000 tonnes, some 12 percent higher than the average for the previous five years, reflecting an improved security situation and increased plantings following agricultural inputs distribution with assistance of FAO in the localities which were adversely affected by the 2003 rebellion. Cereal import requirement in 2005 is estimated at some 47 000 tonnes.
