With a view to strengthening the research capability and facilities for formulating and implementing an integrated research programme on fish culture at the Fisheries Research Institute at Szarvas, the Government of Hungary, with the assistance of the United Nations Development Programme and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, has been engaged in operating a Fish Culture Development Project and as a part of the project, FAO assigned Dr. V.R.P. Sinha as a fish seed production consultant, for three months from 3 May 1978 with the following terms of reference:
to evaluate the research carried out in the Institute and the cooperating institutions, particularly the fish breeding station of Százhalombatta, on the breeding of cultivated species and larval rearing;
to formulate, in cooperation with the research teams concerned, an expanded and integrated research programme directed toward the improvement of breeding and larval rearing techniques;
to assist the project in implementing the expanded programme and advise on advanced training of project personnel in relevant research.
