Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Kenya and with the close collaboration of the competent Kenyan authorities, the Preparatory Assistance Mission will:
prepare a summary report on the present situation of the exploitation and potential yield of the capture fisheries of the Kenyan sector of Lake Victoria as well as the surrounding water basins;
examine the Government's comprehensive fisheries development programme for the Lake Basin, covering not only aquaculture, but also the capture fisheries, and all the related technical support services, research facilities, processing and marketing aspects as well as organizational aspects;
submit a first draft project document for medium-term UNDP/FAO assistance in the implementation of the agreed fisheries development plan for the Lake Basin, taking into account all other existing and anticipated bilateral and multilateral aid programmes in this sector.
