The size and shape of the nursery tank depend on the management design. The shape of the nursery tank can be circular, oval or rectangular. From the management point of view, the depth of the nursery tank should not be more than 1 m.
At the Sg. Merbok hatchery, the nursery tank has a circular flat base with a diameter of 3.5 m and 1.00 m height (Fig.3). After hatching, the fry are transferred into the nursery tanks and kept there for two weeks. The fry will be transferred into the fry rearing tanks when 14 days old.
