The terms of reference of the consultant were as follows:
To help in overall planning of carp fry/fingerling production programmes and carp fry/fingerling distribution activities for the first two hatcheries of each project State Fish Seed Development Corporation (FSDC).
Supervision of the initial operation of these early completed hatcheries.
In-service training of counterpart staff in carp hatchery operations, particularly with respect to maturation of breedstocks, hormone treatment of breeders, techniques in egg fertilization and hatching, care of hatchlings, fry/fingerlings.
Provision of ad hoc assistance to the Central Project Unit, State Project Unit authorities and FSDCs whenever technical problems in hatchery operations may arise.
