8. LIST OF TASKS NECESSARY FOR ESTABLISHMENT OF SEATROUT
AND STURGEON HATCHERIES

The necessary preparatory measures for the enhancement programme, including fisheries protection law enforcement and research, are outlined above. The following actions are necessary to establish the hatcheries themselves.

8.1 SEATROUT

  1. Final selection of a hatchery site from the alternative suggested. Purchase or leasing agreement made with owners.

  2. Appointment of an experienced Turkish trout farm manager, or signing of a management agreement with an existing private trout farm.

  2. Appointment of an experienced sturgeon hatchery manager from overseas, and of a Turkish trainee (assistant) manager having some experience in fish culture.

  3. Detailed planning of hatchery.

  4. Ordering of imported equipment.

  5. Site preparation, provision/upgrading of road access (if required), erection of buildings, installation of water supply and services, tanks, pipework, etc.

  6. Contract agreement with local fishermen made for provision of sturgeon broodstock.

  7. Establishment of contacts with Soviet authorities to secure supply of sturgeon eggs/fry if required.
