POLAND LEGISLATION
Fees determined by the Minister of Marine.

LEGISLATION
-Foreign fishing vessels shall not fish in Polish territorial waters unless otherwise stipulated in an international agreement entered into by Poland.
(Sea Fishing Act, 1963, sect. 5)
-Within the Polish marine fishing zone, foreign fishing vessels fish if a valid international agreement between Poland and the State of nationality of vessels provides for such possibility.

LEGISLATION
Polish vessel
is defined as a vessel which is owned by a body corporate with its headquarters in Poland; or by the State Treasury; or by a Polish citizen resident in Poland; or at least 50% owned by natural or juridical persons mentioned above, provided that its operator has Polish residence and head office or branch office is in Poland.

POLAND LEGISLATION
The Minister may determine:
-partial or total prohibition against fishing of certain species of fish;
-fishing seasons and minimum dimensions;
-fishing quotas;
-prohibited areas and restrictions regarding fishing methods and gear, (sect. 24)
-identification marks to be borne by vessel. (Sect. 16)

-Fishing only authorized for certain species (cod, herring and sprat); (Sect. 2, subsect. 2)
-no fishing with mother or auxiliary vessels; (sect. 3)
-Polish authorities to determine the total allowable catch and the period of stay in fishing zone; (sect. 4)
-identification marks to be displayed; (sect. 5, subsect. 2)
-licence must be held on board; (sect. 6, subsect. 1)
-no licence for vessels whose length exceeds 30 meters unless special authorization; (sect. 6, subsect. 3)
-licence conditions include: nationality, type, name, registration number and home port, power of engine in HP, overall length, gross tonnage and top speed of vessel, name and address of an operator, name and surname of a master, as well as number of crew, expected period and area of operation, expected number of fishing days, species (cod, herring, sprat, and others), method of fishing and fishing gear; (sect. 6, subsect. 4)
-restrictions on gear, minimum mesh sizes: 18 m.m. for sprat, 90 m.m. for cod; (sect. 8, subsect. 2)
-Vessel to be submitted for inspection. (Sect. 12, subsect. 1)

LEGISLATION
-Logbook to be maintained on board and to record duration of fishing, area of fishing with geographic coordinates, type, number and method of gear used, number and time of each haul with hours of beginning and end, type of net material and minimum mesh and quantity of catch by haul. (Sect. 5, subsect. 1)
-Reports to be made by radio call to Polish coast station on entry to and exit from the fishing zone. (Sect. 7, subsect. 1)
-Daily report by radio about fishing area, type of gear used, and fish caught. (Sect. 7, subsect. 2)
