LEGISLATION
-Vessels must be properly licensed by competent authorities.
-Licence to include details regarding compensation due in exchange for licence, permitted species, fishing methods to be used, permitted fishing area, permitted catch quota.
-Licences to be issued only for "surplus living resources" in Zone.
(Proclamation regarding the Exclusive Economic Zone and its Delimitation of 1980)
-Minister to issue regulations prescribing terms and conditions of licences. (Art. 4)
-Licence for foreign fishing operations to include information about vessel, number of crew, fishing locations and seasons, species and quantities of living aquatic resources to be caught, fishing techniques and gear to be used. (An. 6)
-Fishing vessels to carry licence on board and to show it to authorized officers on demand. (Art. 7)
-Vessel to comply with navigational regulations, and to carry necessary safety and salvage equipment. (Art. 9)
-Foreign vessels entering harbour may not sell fish unless they have obtained required licence. (Art. 24)

LEGISLATION
Any person engaged in fishing or selling living aquatic resources or in related industries must submit data specified by the competent authorities. (Art. 6)

% = Reports must be made every 3 days for vessels from Norway, Sweden and Faroes when fishing for herring, weekly when fishing for other species .
O = Logbook to be filled out(radio report to be made) after every fishing operation .
* = Country is a part to the South Pacific FFA arrangement which stipulates that licences will not be issued to foreign fishing vessels unless those vessels are listed in good standing on the FFA - maintained regional register of fishing vessels .
