The studies, which were carried out by Wichstead et al. between 1979 and 1984, which covered almost all the geographical regions, show that on average the household consumption per annum was 1.51m3. At that time, the average household size was five and the total population was 1.9 million. Of that 1.9 million, LEMP (192) estimated that 31% used fuelwood, which at that time came up to the total consumption of 177878m3. At the population growth rate of 2%, the figures in the FAO (especially with reference to fuel-wood) although they are estimated projections are strangely almost accurate.
