In 1987 a bibliography entitled “Women in Fisheries - A selective annotated bibliography” circulated as the FAO Fisheries Circular No. 811 gathering studies and research on the socio-economic aspects of the role of women in fisheries. This bibliography was then revised by the author in 1990 (FAO Fish. Circ. No. 811, Rev. 1) bringing to readers the new documents being published. The 1990s have paid further attention to gender issues with an increasing amount of publications. This has generated the need to provide a new compilation updating the previous work. This document gathers a selection of publications on gender and fisheries produced from 1990 onwards and a new Circular number has been given so as to avoid confusion between the two works.
