Objectives
The Workshop served as the first official forum to assess the current status of integrated irrigation-aquaculture (IIA) activities in selected countries, to determine information needs and to discuss how these could be best met through networking.
Specific objectives of the Workshop
Organization
Workshop participants met for two days under the chairmanship of Dr A.G. Coche. Dr J.F. Moehl Jr and Ig M. Sonou acted as Technical Secretaries. The Agenda of the Workshop is given in Annex 2.
On the first day, participating countries presented a concise review of IIA development and research activities in each country. Examples of existing networks and networking activities were also discussed.
Day 2 was devoted to designing the IIA Network, identifying its goal, objectives, context of operation and structure, as well as seeing how it should link with other related networks. These activities culminated in a proposal for establishing the IIA Network and defining its initial activities.
