Many of the data sources consulted to assess the forest plantation area for FRA 1990 and for FRA 1980 are not fully referenced. The main references for these two assessments are the FRA main reports. FRA 2000 lists sources in bibliographies on a country basis and source documents are held in the FRA documentation library available for future reference. The database containing the information has been designed to facilitate simple update as countries verify data.
During the latest 20 years FRA has strived to improve the quality of the forest resources assessment data, processes and reporting. There has been increasing participation of countries in providing and verifying data. For FRA 2000, 155 developing countries provided data and information through an established process of co-operation between local focal persons and the FAO FRA team.
