The table below contains the result of the compilation of the four data sets provided by FAO in the latest 20 years. FAO has continuously produced figures only 85 developing countries both tropical and non-tropical. Also it must be noted that, although countries have been listed together, they can not be directly compared due to all the differences described in this report and including:
1. FRA 2000 was the first to include rubber wood and cork oak stands2. Ethiopia, Morocco and Indonesia can not be compared because of the changes in their geographical boundaries during the last 20 years.
3. The comparison among data-sets can only be done, for gross plantation areas, among FRA 2000, FRA 1980 and the gross plantation areas of FRA 1990 and TFPA 1995; for net plantation areas, among the net plantation areas of FRA 1990 and TFPA 1995.
