This is of little interest even though it is said in certain hypolimnetic water carbon monoxide (CO) may occur. However, due to its extreme toxicity to fish it is mentioned here, CO combines with haemoglobin forming carboxy-haemoglobin, and effectively prevents oxygen loading and transport.
