4. Comparative analysis of terminology used

A summary of main terminology currently used by the above mentioned agencies is provided in Table 1. Comparative analysis with the UWET proposal shows that most of the terms used by FAO and other organizations are inadequate for the proper and correct collection, collation, exchange and presentation of biofuel data in general and woodfuel data in particular. Moreover, in most cases there is no proper disaggregation among the data collected and presented: for instance, in the FAO classification on woodfuels there is a differentiation between fuelwood from Coniferous (C) and Non- Coniferous (NC) which, nowadays, is not needed. (The annex also presents a table of UWET comparison with some current classification and definition systems for forest products.)
