SEED COLLECTION OF PINUS RADIATA/MURICATA IN CALIFORNIA

An Australian/New Zealand seed collection mission to collect provenance samples of Pinus radiata and P. muricata from its natural range is presently underway (January 1978). The collections, which are made in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service, are funded by the CSIRO Division of Forest Research, Australia, the New Zealand Forest Service, the US/Australia Cooperative Science Agreement Fund, the U.K. Forestry Commission, and FAO. Part of the seed collected will be made available to developing countries which are interested in these species.
We hope to publish a report by Dr. K.G. Eldridge on the expedition in a future issue of FGRI.
