SEED COLLECTION AND DISTRIBUTION THE FORESTRY RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF NIGERIA

During 1978/79, a total of 6.25 kg of seed of Terminalia ivorensis and 4.30 kg of T. superba was collected for international distribution by the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria with financial assistance of FAO's Forestry Department. Countries which, upon request, received seed of these two species were Cameroon, Ecuador, Fiji, India, Solomon Islands and Surinam.

Provenance collections for future international trials have also been started; 19 provenances of T. ivorensis and 5 provenances of T. superba have been collected to date. The seed will be distributed after the full ranges of the species in West Africa have been sampled.
