SURVEY OF TRAINING FACILITIES IN SEED HANDLING AND TECHNOLOGY

At the IUFRO Project Group meeting on Seed Problems held in Austria in June 1985, the need was expressed for a comprehensive survey of training facilities for seed workers. Identified needs in this field are varied, ranging from study tours and organized short courses to individual short term training, fellowships for post-graduate studies etc.

In view of the above, the meeting decided that a survey be carried out, with a view to producing a register of training facilities for forest seed workers.

The Project Group is interested in establishing contact with organizations, seed centres, Universities and individuals willing and able to assist, or already involved in, training of seed workers and scientists. The coordinator for the survey is:

Dr. D.A. Skeates
ASEAN Canada Forest Tree Seed Centre
Muak Lek, Saraburi
Thailand.

If you think you contribute to the study, please inform Dr. Skeates about types of seed work being conducted by you, the scientific fields covered and the kind of training which can be offered. In the case of established courses, and/or if possibilities exist for fellowships or funding, details on how to apply would also be much appreciated.
