Action/Notes
The AWB accompanying FPO 9-89033 (the only paperwork available) shows the goods air freighted on PK786 on 24 March 1990. Even allowing for delays in air transport, this equipment must have arrived in Beijing in early April and been awaiting in Customs. Checks should be made that this is not the situation with the rest of the FPOs.

Due to suppliers inability to supply the requested item, FAO HQ Rome (Dr.Chan) was contacted and authorised the changes in the specification. In order to avoid severe delay to the project (this item is vital to the surveying of Qinghai Lake), this equipment was hand carried by CST Smith from UK to Xining.
Equipment Status:
All equipment supplied under this FPO (with adjustments) now in Xining and in working order.
Action/Notes:
Telex to be sent to Mr. David Parker of Partech Electronics (Tlx No United Kingdom 45362) to confirm that replacement items will be no more expensive than originally quoted for unavailable item ($12,400). As this item was hand carried by CST Smith, no air freight is applicable and reimbursement of the CST is required from Project Funds.

Equipment Status:
FPO 9-85491 under AWB 7817530 all in order and OK. This arrived in a box 67 × 45 × 29 cm weighing 12kg and containing chemical reagents only.
FPO 9-85490 under AWB 160-62186876 is NOT repeat NOT in order. All reagents listed in the packing list arrived safely and in order. However, only one PT260 Deluxe Photometer kit arrived instead of three ordered. As proof only 1 was despatched each weighs 2.25 kilos. The total box weight was given as 5kg so impossible that more than one was packed and despatched.
