Este manual ofrece valiosa información sobre casi todos los aspectos relativos a la genética de los peces. La bibliografía contiene más de 2.000 referencias, especialmente publicaciones rusas y de Europa oriental. No obstante, es un libro muy técnico dirigido a científicos, particularmente del campo de la genética de los peces.

Documento que describe el descubrimiento de un carácter mutante en una población de peces cultivados para la alimentación, los estudios que se realizaron para determinar la causa de la deformidad y el programa de cría que se utilizó para desechar el carácter y producir una población pura.
