Rains in late March and early April brought relief to pastoral areas, affected by severe dry weather conditions in the past months. As livestock rearing is the main economic activity in the country, the food situation of the affected population is assumed to be tight. The country is extremely dependent on imports, mostly commercial for cereal consumption.
