This important work is actually a summary in map form of the extent of present knowledge of the grass cover of Africa which can be used as a guide not only in the field of range or grassland management, but also in the wider reaches of land use generally. Included with the 168 pages of text is a six-color I: 10,000,000 map in a separate folder of Africa's grass cover as compiled from discussions and correspondence with a great number of specialists in Africa and elsewhere. This study represents a first step toward the long-term objective of mapping the grazing resources of the world's underdeveloped countries.
