Draws attention to past experience of the health hazards to fishermen and workers of handling uniced industrial fish in bulk in confined spaces. Describes the hazards, how they occur, and where the dangers are. Gives background information on unsafe levels of toxic gases. Outlines the safety precautions necessary at sea and in port for the crew, and for workers onshore when discharging or handling industrial fish. This Note should be read in conjunction with Notes 49 and 64. It is important to note that current legislation relating to health and safety at work should be consulted.
