1. The Expert Consultation on Small-Scale Fisheries Management in Sub-Saharan Africa was held in the Conference Room of the FAO Regional Office for Africa in Accra, Ghana, from 12 to 14 December 2001.
2. The Consultation had a panel of 11 experts and an FAO Secretariat (Appendix B).
3. The Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for Africa, Mr Bamidele F. Dada, welcomed the experts and formally opened the Expert Consultation.
