REVISED CALENDAR OF FAO GOVERNING BODIES AND OTHER MAIN SESSIONS 2003-2004

 

1. At its Sixty-sixth Session (June 1975) the Council, after concluding that the number of Sessions and their programming was a fundamental problem, requested that "an annotated schedule for the next biennium of Sessions of the Council itself and those Bodies which report to the Council should be submitted to the Sixty-eighth Council Session for approval, after adoption by the Conference of the Programme of Work and Budget and that this schedule should be reviewed at subsequent Sessions of the Council as required".1

2. Appendix A gives for information the Revised Calendar of FAO Governing Bodies and Other Main Sessions for 2003-2004. Sessions already held during the biennium are listed so as to enable the Council to have a complete picture of the pattern of sessions for the period 2003-2004. Changes from Appendix F to the final Report of the Hundred and Twenty-third Session of the Council are marked with an asterisk.

3. The Council at its Hundred and Twenty-sixth Session in December 2003 will be given the Provisional Calendar 2004-2005 to approve the Calendar for 2004.

Harmonizing Schedules of FAO, IFAD and WFP
Governing Body Sessions

4. The Secretariats of FAO, IFAD and WFP, in an endeavour to harmonize the sessions of the respective Governing Bodies which require the participation of Permanent Representatives in Rome, established an Inter-Agency Working Group on Meeting Programming to prepare a calendar of main sessions on a two-year rolling basis.

5. Appendix B gives for information the Revised FAO/IFAD/WFP Calendar of Governing and Other Bodies 2003-2004 prepared jointly by the Working Group in an effort to avoid overlapping. The dates for each organization are subject to the approval of the respective Governing Bodies.
