Jean-Philippe Dop
Deputy Director-General, World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE)

Jean-Philippe is the Deputy Director General for Institutional Affairs and Regional activities at the OIE, the World Organisation for Animal Health, which he joined in 2016. He previously worked in International Affairs for various French Ministries and Agencies, dealing with Cooperation in Africa, European Affairs, International Sanitary Negotiations and Trade.   He is a Public Health Chief Veterinary Officer and graduated in Tropical Veterinary Medicine and Tropical Animal Production from the International Agronomical Research Centre for Cooperation and Development (CIRAD).  He is based in Paris, France, Tel: +33 (0)1 44151881, [email protected] 

René Castro-Salazar
Assistant Director-General, Climate, Biodiversity, Land and Water Department
Mr. René Castro-Salazar is a Civil Engineer from the Universidad de Costa Rica, A Master in Public Administration and Doctor of Design, both degrees awarded by Harvard University. Mr. Castro-Salazar held several ministerial positions in Costa Rica, such as Minister of Natural Resources, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Environment and Energy between 1994 and 2014. Has lectured in prestigious universities such as Harvard, Tokyo, Yale, Zurich Tech, INCAE and in several other Latin American Universities. Author of articles about policy, energy, sustainable development and climate change. UN/FAO appointed Mr. Castro-Salazar as Assistant-Director-General in 2016, and he is leading the Climate Biodiversity, Land and Water Department.
Michele Bernardi
Senior Consultant in Agrometeorology and Early Warning Systems, Italy

A professional experience started in 1976 with an University Degree in Physics (University La Sapienza, Rome) with the specialization in tropical micro-meteorology with discussion of a thesis carried out in Nigeria on the energy balance of two food crops. And then continued for more than thirty-five years in the field of agro-meteorology, bio-climatology, agro-climatology, early warning systems for food security in more than 30 countries in Africa, Southeast Asia, Europe, Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Latin America including resident expert for about 20 years in Africa. After an initial 5-year experience with the private sector, then employed by the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the UN for various posts mainly in Africa (14 years) and then at the Hqs in Rome (15 years). After compulsory retirement, it is a privilege to still offer experience and knowledge giving me the opportunity to share experiences.

Srinivasan Arunachalam
President, JMR InfoTech, India

Srinivasan Arunachalam is a business leader with more than 33 years of experience in the Financial Services Industry (FSI). A substantial part of Srini’s career has been spent in the Software & Technology Industry within FSI, across Sales, Pre-Sales, Consultancy and Software Solutions Delivery functions.

Srinivasan Arunachalam is currently President, at JMR Infotech, India, heading all Business Lines globally, with charter to Lead and transform the decade-old organization, as Principal Change Agent, to adopt newer processes, practices; leveraging Solution and Offerings from across all Business Lines, aligning to ‘One-Org’ theme; as also Create and build IP led solutions, with Digital and Process efficiency as key solution themes. Since year 2000, he managed Business Development in Africa, Caribbean and Latin America. In 2005, Srini handled the crucial Global Sales Operations role in addition to Global Pre-Sales & Solutioning. In 2007, Srini assumed responsibility of Chief Executive Officer and Vice-President, Asia-Pacific Sales of OFS’ Asia-Pacific subsidiary and managed more than 100 Financial Institution customers, apart from a robust pipeline. Srini holds a degree in Commerce from the University of Madras and a Diploma in Software Management, apart from being a qualified Chartered Accountant and Cost & Works Accountant.

Arif Satria
Rector Bogor Agricultural University, Indonesia

Dr. Arif received his undergraduate degree majoring in Social Economics, Faculty of Agriculture (IPB), then continued his master’s degree in Rural Sociology of IPB and earned his Doctorate degree at Marine Policy of Kagoshima University, Japan. He also had been a Visiting Fellow at the University of British Columbia, Canada. Dr. Arif is a lecturer of FEMA IPB since 2010 after previously serving as a lecturer in the Department of Fisheries Social Economics IPB. He also is an adviser to the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries in 2012.

Dr. Arif has been actively involved in drafting of marine and fishery policies since 2002 such as the drafting of the Fisheries Law 31/2004; Revision of the Law on the Management of Coastal Areas and Small Islands; Preparation of the Blue Economic Concept; as well as a number of Government and Ministerial Regulations.

Livia Peiser
Technical Officer, Climate, Biodiversity, Land and Water Department, FAO

Livia Peiser is a technical officer at the Land and Water division of FAO, and she applies spatial analysis and remote sensing to water resources assessments, in particular in relation to agriculture water use.

 Ms Peiser currently focuses on monitoring water productivity through remote sensing through the FAO WaPOR database. She has been working in FAO and other UN agencies for the last fifteen years applying spatial analysis to food security, water and agriculture.

Hans Hoogeveen
Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to FAO

Hans Hoogeveen serves as Ambassador / Permanent Representative of the Netherlands to the UN Organizations for Food and Agriculture. Before that he was the Director General for Agriculture and Nature Management at the Netherlands Ministry of Economic Affairs. As such, Dr. Hoogeveen is the most senior civil servant to lead the agriculture, agribusiness, food safety, food security, veterinary and plant health, international affairs, including the European Common Agricultural Policy and the Common Fisheries Policy, international food security, the FAO and other UN affairs, trade liberalisation (WTO), market access and nature/biodiversity managements agendas. Dr. Hoogeveen served in numerous international functions, including as Chair of the Bureau of the Seventh Session of the United Nations Forum on Forests that adopted in 2007, under his leadership, an international instrument on forests which was called a landmark achievement by the UN Secretary General after fifteen years of stalled international negotiations. For his achievements within the Forum, Dr. Hoogeveen received an UN award during the High-Level Special Event on the UN General Assembly’s adoption of the international forest instrument.

Marco Gualtieri
CEO, Seeds and Chips, Italy

Marco Gualtieri is Founder and Chairman of Seeds&Chips the Global Food Innovation Summit – the world-renowned go-to event on Food Innovation. Mr Gualtieri has revolutionized the vision and approach to food as well as becoming an internationally recognized expert in this field, speaking at conferences all over the world and as a board member of some advisory boards and Think Tanks that focus on the future of food and sustainability. He founded (1996) TicketOne, the first and leading e-commerce ticketing platform in Italy as well as co-founded Netcomm, Italy’s largest e-commerce association. Since 2004 he is also on the board of the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights.

Tom Anyonge
Lead Technical Specialist on Youth at the Environment, Climate, Gender and Social Inclusion Division, IFAD
Tom Anyonge is the Lead Technical Specialist in Youth at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). He provides the Fund’s regional divisions and country partners with institutional and organizational analysis, capacity development and programme management in the context of farming systems, agricultural support services and markets. He promotes applied research work to fill knowledge gaps and develop knowledge products, tools and guidelines. Anyonge has 30 years of professional experience strengthening institutions for rural development. Prior to joining IFAD, Anyonge worked with NORAD, FINIDA, DFID and SIDA in Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia. He also has experience as a programme manager, National Technical Adviser, Senior Programme Officer and Senior Programme Support Officer. Anyonge holds two MSc degrees: one from the University of Arizona, United States, and one from Voronezh University, USSR. He also holds a BSc degree from Voronezh University.
Alex Ntare
CEO ICT Chamber, Rwanda
Alex Ntare is Chief Executive Officer of the Rwanda ICT Chamber. His work at the Chamber involves bridging the gap between private and public sector players in the ICT industry as well as overseeing and establishing new innovation programs for technology startups and innovators among them KLAB, Fablab Rwanda LEAPR Applied Research Labs, 250Startups and startup fundraising event Face The Gorillas. He is also co-founder and board member of Africa Smart Investments a consortium of 15 leading ICT companies in Rwanda and an early stage investor in entrepreneurs and startups. He holds a Msc in Investment and Quantitative Finance from the University of Westminster in United Kingdom, a Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Business Information Technology from NCC Education in UK as well as a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from Makerere University in Uganda. His work experience ranges from working as a computer engineer to a financial services’ broker in London's financial district. He is a passionate enthusiast of technology and financial markets developments and their role to solving global challenges.
