Gabon’s Forestry Minister explores relationship between forests and nutrition

Nelson Messone, Minister for Forests, Environment and the Protection of Natural Resources in Gabon advocated for giving greater consideration to the relationship between forestry and nutrition. “Forests can provide many resources to improve the nutritional status of our countries’ populations,” he said. He added that multisectoral initiatives like ICN2 that bring together the fields of forestry and nutrition are welcome and should be encouraged. “We must ensure that this initiative results in concrete actions and specific forms of programme assistance for our countries,” he said.
