Increased vigilance is required in areas of good rains in Mali and Niger, and locust infestations in Sudan and Pakistan.

Caution continues in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan due to ongoing control operations and extends to the summer breeding areas in Mauritania, Sudan and Yemen due to expectations of higher than normal initial populations.

As a result of continued increase in locust populations in the winter breeding areas of Sudan and Saudi Arabia and in northwest Mauritania, there is moderate risk that locusts will move to the spring breeding areas in the interior of Saudi Arabia and to NW Africa.
