The Improved Global Governance for Hunger Reduction Programme seeks to concretely improve the way in which the global community works together to eradicate hunger and malnutrition.

The partnership between the EU and FAO is sound and growing fast. FAO is currently carrying out over 150 EU-funded projects in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle-East and Latin-America.

CountrySTAT is a web-based information technology system for food and agriculture statistics at the national and subnational levels. In practice, it acts as a one stop center which centralizes and integrates the data coming from various sources and allows to harmonize it according to international standards while ensuring data quality and reliability.

Since 2010, the Government of Spain has supported the regional project APRAO [Improvement of Rice Production in West Africa] with total funding of USD 5.8 million primarily for responding  to soaring food prices in the region. To achieve this, the project’s immediate objective is increasing rice production by enhancing the capacity of small-scale seed enterprises and farmers with a particular focus on the active involvement of women. The project targets countries among those most affected by the soaring food prices, that are Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Senegal.
