Global Early Warning – Early Action Report on Food Security and Agriculture

The Global Early Warning - Early Action System (EWEA) report on food security and agriculture is developed by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) through its EWEA. The system aims to translate forecasts and early warnings into anticipatory action. The Global EWEA report is a quarterly forward-looking analytical summary of major disaster risks to food security and agriculture. This report specifically highlights: HIGH RISKS: South-Soudan: Risk of famine due to conflict and macro-economic collapse; Yemen: Localised risk of famine due to conflict; North-East Nigeria: Localised risk of famine linked to conflict; Horn of Africa (Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia): Drought; Southern Africa Region (Angola, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Swaziland and Zimbabwe): Drought and localised floods. ON WATCH: Syria: conflict; Democratic Republic of Congo: conflict; Iraq: conflict; Haiti: cyclone; Bolivia: Drought; Afghanistan: conflict, displacement and dry conditions Burundi: Conflict and high food prices.
