This paper is an action oriented document and hopefully a contribution to the methodologies to build policy makers’ capacities in negotiation. It is also, hopefully, a contribution to better address the difficult task of strengthening people’s capacities in their field of expertise. The first part of this paper explains the origin of both the Project on Negotiation for Agriculture at FAO and the Negociatrix simulation. The second section addresses the contents of the simulation and the main issues that can be tackled by running the simulation. The third and last section of this communication focuses on perspectives and on practical and methodological aspects to take into consideration when using Negociatrix.
